So, working from home is awesome! I got started late (about 8:40) and finished way earlier than I usually do (about 4:45), and the best part was that when I was done, I didn’t have to drive an hour to get home! So I jumped rope. Today was the first day since Sunday that my calves weren’t killing me so badly that it hurt to stand up, so I decided to go make them hurt again. I’ve also eaten so much tuna, something like 7 cans so far today. Now if I could just figure out some way to make sodas not taste so darn good, I’d be set to start losing weight. I’ve tried using alternatives: sweet tea (just as many grams of sugar as soda), water (gag—so boring!), and those artificial sweeteners that you squeeze into drinks (meh), and there’s just nothing that tastes as good as a soda or that is nearly as convenient. I don’t really want to go back to what I did back when I weighed 165, and that was ate pretty much nothing but tuna and vegetables and drank pretty much nothing but water. I looked great, yeah, but there’s more to life than that, and frankly, if I’m gonna start working out again, I ought to at least get to continue enjoying something…like sodas, beer, steaks, brownies, and… Okay, okay…
In other news, I’m very excited: it’s finally time to get fruit trees and plant them. I’ve been wanting to do it since I bought the property, but I always forgot around wintertime to get them. Seriously, why would you plant a tree when it’s freezing?! In any case, I know a guy who works for a nursery, and he says the trees are in, so hopefully Saturday, I’ll go and get them. Then it’s just figuring out how to keep them alive…
Apples, pears, and plums, in case you’re wondering. Would do cherries, but they’re toxic to horses, and I’d do lemons or oranges, but it gets too cold here (and I don’t very well have much place to bring them inside when it gets cold!), so…yeah, that’s not gonna happen.
The commission went well. Don’t remember whether I mentioned that or not. A few hours of fun writing, made $18. It’s not enough to retire on, but if I can start doing a few of these a week, I might actually be able to pay stuff off faster, which would be awesome. So we’ll see. The guy who commissioned me is funny: after I sent him the final, he was like a kid in a candy store. He has so many different stories he wants to write with different characters set in different worlds, but 1) I can only write them one at a time, and 2) he can only afford them one at a time. So while he’s waiting on his next paycheck, I suggested that he work on figuring out which one he wants. The way I see it, he’s easy to work with, the stories seem to be fun, and the more of them I write, the more things I can post on my portfolio, and the more likely I’ll be to get more commissions. That wouldn’t break my heart at all!
I’m feeling like writing something, but I’m not sure what. I’ve got reindeer on the brain again. I already did that one story, but that didn’t quite get it all out of my system. Trouble is, I don’t have a thought well-formed enough to know what to write, yet. Maybe I’ll sit and ponder it a bit while listening to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (again).
Cute anthro reindeer:
Hug and kiss and suck and fuck.
That’s why his nose glows…
